Our engravings are created with a computer-controlled mechanical CNC router machine. This is a labour and time-intensive process that gives a very high quality brushed finish. We are often asked why we do not use a laser as it would be quicker and cheaper. It comes down to two primary reasons; even if we used PETG blanks, there is still a negative environmental impact as it is a dirty material to process and it produces significant volumes of white particulates. Besides, it gives an unacceptably poor quality finish that looks burnt/melted with a cloudy/milky edging. It is simply not worth it for an engraved finished that is poor at best.
