As you will already be aware, My Shank have spent 4+ years, and considerable financial investment, into developing a new type of blank for diamond cutting. Essentially these are pressed blank records with the same shape/profile of a pressed record; where they differ is that the plastics used are bespoke and therefore suitable for diamond cutting. They are not just blank records sourced from a pressing plant; they are not injection moulded PET. They lie flat and have an exceptionally smooth surface. We are routinely getting 150+ hours from a stylus.

My Shank have built their own pressing plant, which runs on renewable energy. The plastics used are recycled. The pigments are organic.

This is an exciting new era for the lathe-cutting industry.

The new generation of pressed blanks are available in 7″, 10″ and 12”. We also stock some of the old generation blanks (cut from sheets) in all formats.

Styli: we are also handling all sales and resharpening of styli. My Shank supply and resharpen styli for some of the biggest disc mastering studio’s in the world, including Bernie Grundman, and have been making styli since 2010. Other items and hardware: vacuum platter for the T560; suction pump; test record; stylus adjustment tool; Dashpot – a significant upgrade for the T560 – unlike the stock dashpot on the T560, the My Shank dashpot is mounted vertically and decoupled from the spring. The spring handles the vertical load (weight), while the dashpot provides damping only. The internal fluid flow is also adjustable. All of this enhances groove accuracy, improves signal-to-noise ratio, and supports more stable vertical modulation; resulting in quieter records, more stable cuts, cleaner transients, and more defined dynamics.
